We have been meeting sea-anemones, condors, crabs, sea lions and seals. It brings back fond memories of some of our other coastal excursions and adventures, all over the U.S. and elsewhere.

Favorite Rivers around the World
Last Tuesday we were discussing rivers and lakes on Twitter. Every Tuesday we join an international group of globe trotters who like to discuss various topics related to travel. Seine River, Paris Rivers and lakes remind us to pause, take a moment and reflect. As human beings made of 98% water we are naturally drawn … Continue reading Favorite Rivers around the World
Dennis and Kimberly’s Excellent and Epic European Adventure, Day 19
Jan. 30, 2016: Vienna As usual, a cup of tea is the first order of business for me this morning. Down in the hostel lobby, there is a tiny kitchenette where I can heat some water for this purpose. (No, that's not it in the photo above -- we'll get to that later.) There is … Continue reading Dennis and Kimberly’s Excellent and Epic European Adventure, Day 19

Jan. 29, 2016: Venice to Vienna Having packed our gear, we say arrivederla to the woman of the house, who kisses us each on both cheeks -- that's 4 kisses total, for those keeping score -- and tells us (as we clearly understand even with our primitive grasp of Italian) that if we ever return, … Continue reading Dennis and Kimberly’s Excellent and Epic European Adventure, Day 18

Jan. 27, 2016: Florence to Venice/ Musestre Our train to Venice doesn't leave until this afternoon, so we have the morning to wander around Florence some more. We ask Giulio if it's okay to leave our gear behind, and he says it's fine -- unlike our hostess in Rome, he doesn't have someone else … Continue reading Dennis and Kimberly’s Excellent and Epic European Adventure, Day 16

Jan. 26, 2016: Naples to Florence Having passed the midpoint of our tour at approximately midnight last night, we get up early this morning and start packing for the next leg. The policeman is at home, and we communicate with him via the translator app on his phone (if you think WE finally had access … Continue reading Dennis and Kimberly’s Excellent and Epic European Adventure, Day 15

Jan. 25, 2016: Sorrento and Naples As it turns out, this is a day to be played by ear. We'd originally entertained thoughts of visiting Herculaneum, another ancient city destroyed by Vesuvius. But for various reasons, we decide against it, and so it leaves us with a free day. My recommendation is that we hop … Continue reading Dennis and Kimberly’s Excellent and Epic European Adventure, Day 14
