Continuing our final RV trek from coast to coast, we continued hiking and exploring parks, forests and nature trails on a daily basis. And to our continued surprise, we continued to encounter an abundance of these in the vicinity of Cleveland. Yes, that Cleveland.
In the course of getting to these locations, we had to replace one of our RV’s house batteries, which operate appliances like the refrigerator, the water pump and the interior lights.
Not great timing, since we were preparing to offer the RV for sale as soon as we reached the West Coast. We would have preferred not to have sunk another 150 bucks or so into a vehicle that we’d soon be rid of. But at least the next owner would have a brand spanking new battery to enjoy.

Nor was that the only way our house on wheels was displaying poor timing. Just in time for the impending summer solstice, our air conditioner began going on the blink periodically. Make that air conditioners, plural — the one on the dash that kept us cool while we were driving, and the one on the ceiling that kept us cool while we were parked and either plugged in or running the generator.
Ultimately, we determined that the dash AC just needed a belt replaced. Fixing the other machine, however, was beyond our skill set, and the problem would have to wait until we were in one location long enough to call in a hired gun.
Fortunately, the weather was still not too sultry for the most part. And anyway, we were spending as much time as possible exploring the great outdoors.

Caesar Creek State Park
One park we stumbled upon in Ohio was Caesar Creek Park, which had some fascinating flora and fauna, as well as some cataracts and waterfalls.
It also included a Pioneer Village, with houses and other buildings replicating those that might have been found here a couple of centuries earlier. On some occasions, there are even vintage baseball games, played in antiquated uniforms and following antiquated rules.

So while our beloved RV was acting up as if begging us to reconsider and keep it in our possession, we were still getting in a memorable road trip, seeing the natural wonders of the Heartland.
