Water Slides, Aquariums & 1st Flight – Episode 3

Splish, splashing our way across North Carolina to Virginia.

Episode 3 – filmed the week of July 14-20, 2018

This week our travels took us to North Carolina (where we had performances) and Virginia. There was no way we could resist the temptation to drop by the world’s largest frying pan in Rose Hill, NC. Then after being exposed to so much heat it was time to hit the water. At Salty Pirate Water Park in Emerald Isle NC we zoomed down some thrilling slide and chutes, including one that feels like being shot out of a cannon. Thus primed, we made our way to some even more serious waterworks: the Atlantic Ocean at Wrightsville Beach, where we exercised our boogie board to keep it in working order.

Wrightsville was not named after the Wright Brothers, but it might have been, because it isn’t far from Kitty Hawk. And we had to make our way to the spot where Wilbur and Orville launched not only their own plane, but the American aviation industry. (This site, now a national memorial, is actually located in Kill Devil Hills, which did not exist at the time; thus, the location was recorded as Kitty Hawk, which is a few miles away.) The 4 landing spots for their epic motorized flights are marked by inscribed stones. And there’s a sculpture incorporating a replica of their plane that just yelled out “Dance on me, dance on me!”

Making our way up to Virginia Beach, we had one more fling with the water. This time, we didn’t get in it, but admired some other critters who spend all their time in it at the Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center.

Thanks to Salty Pirate Water Park and Virginia Aquarium for providing the watery experiences.

We are eager for more adventures. What do you recommend? Leave your suggestions in the comments below.
