Episode 9 – August 31, 2018
Week 9 finds us in Maine, and as far as we are concerned, the main thing about Maine is not the lobster. We had a ball at Monkey C Monkey Do in Wiscasset, climbing on ropes and swinging on swings and zipping on zip lines without the benefit of prehensile tails. And chipping away at a phobia or two in the process.
Then we stopped by the Boothbay Railway Village in Boothbay, where we were able to ride a steam train and tour a classic village made of historic buildings that have been moved to this location. The exhibits also included a large model railway layout, antique automobiles, and a huge selection of outboard motors. And oh yes, a huge collection of salt and pepper shakers.
Then it was on to the picturesque seaside town of Bar Harbor, and nearby Acadia National Park, where we spent a couple of days exploring some splendid hiking trails. We put our Monkey C Monkey Do skills to work by climbing up a pair of mountains called The Bubbles, as well as a precarious, nearly vertical mountain called The Beehive. At the summit, we paused to do a victory dance. We’ll show you a little more of Acadia and Bar Harbor next time.
